I have lived in Virginia for my whole life. As of recently, I live in a house out in the mountains with my wife, Linnea, my cat, Hobbes, and our new pup, Thomas (pictured above).
Interests
Psychology
My undergraduate degree is in Psychology but I have not carried out much of my own substantive research. Having come to understand things like artificial neural networks, I am hoping to use them to eventually contribute to the science of cognition and perception.
Philosophy
Previously, I took to studying philosophy of mind. Here is my old wordpress site serving as my notebook for philosophy, math, statistics, and cognitive science study. Studying Immanuel Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason was a transformative project for me that has strongly influenced my understanding of epistemology and metaphysics.
Art
I have continually practiced drawing, painting, and other kinds of art from an early age.

I like to think of their style as focused on expression or atmosphere and using surreal elements to enhance that.
It often takes much longer to fully envision each image than to paint it.
Meditation and visually evocative music are the main driving forces.
Most of the paintings are sold or given away, and I don’t do commissions.
Meditation, Lucid Dreaming
For more than 15 years, I have semi-regularly meditated and for short periods of time practiced lucid dreaming. Both have had a huge impact on my worldview and interests. I keep a scientific attitude toward them and hope to one day contribute to research on the kinds of metacognitive processes they explore and alter.
